Video to DVD

If you’re over the age of 25 then you’ve probably got a stack of video tapes sitting in a cupboard, unable to be played as you no longer have a VCR!

If you have more than 10 tapes then it’s worth thinking about buying a video to DVD recorder. These are, as expected, DVD recorders with a VHS deck so that you can record straight to a DVD-R. (Remember that there is another format called DVD+R, so make sure you buy the right discs for your machine!)

Take care if the tapes are very old, if necessary manually rewinding them to ensure there are no stuck bits of tape.

Prices start at around £150

(If you only have a few tapes then many photo developing shops will have a conversion service.)
